Embellish
with Anything Recently I taught a bookbinding class at Leapenhi Paper in Courtenay where I was lucky enough to meet Gladys Love, the author of Embellish With Anything! What a delightful and enthusiastic person! Several weeks later she came shopping in person with her friend Judy. Needless to say, I had to pick up her book. Since I have a special soft spot for fabric and textiles, it wasn't a chore for me to pour through the pages, smiling at references to her friend Judy and her friend Joan, who was also in my bookbinding class. And I was smiling more as I ready about her felted beads, since we'd been discussing them just the other day on the byhandartists group (as we drooled over Lizard's felted bead charms). Gladys' book has sections on Inspiration and Sketchbooks, Supplies, Techniques, Ephemera from Everywhere (including beer cans on the beach and dragonfly skeletons), Fabric Beads (from scraps, stabilizers, wool and heated felt), seventeen Projects and a Gallery. My personal favourite is the beaded goddess postcards project! oh, and the felted wool beads. oh! and that tree on the cover is *dimensional*, not flat!! Very, very cool! You should see what Gladys does with luggage tags (you will NEVER mistake your luggage again!) and she has a very unique way of sharing the photos of her grandchildren. And the things I've mentioned are just a few of the treats waiting in store for you inside the covers of Embellish with Anything. Gladys is a member of Quietfire Creations and you can see her page here
