Supplies you will need:

• Cedar Canyon Rubbing Plates
• Ecoline Watercolors
• bristle brush
• White (or you can use black) Crayon
• Spray bottle with water or MiniMisters
• Tissue Paper
• Freezer paper

• Black Ink

1. Cut a piece of tissue paper the same size as rubbing plate.
2. Place tissue over rubbing plate. Using White crayon, VERY gently rub over plate, being careful not to tear. Sometimes its a good idea to double up the tissue as it helps with tearing.
3. Then place the tissue on a piece of freezer paper. Spritz with water lightly.
4. With colors of your choice of Ecoline watercolors, randomly (and gently) paint the tissue paper. The crayon acts as a resist.
5. With the white crayon, you get a batik look :) Then use as desired for cards, atcs, etc.

I made two atc's with this background technique. I used a glue stick to glue the tissue paper to heavy watercolor paper. I attached the collage images, then to add depth I used Conte Pastel Pencils around the collage images. I finished these off by sponging black ink around the edges and stamping a calligraphy word in black ink.
