To Make the Box: Before I cut anything, I stamped the large Flourish with Versamark on a 12" x 12" piece of Bazzill cardstock. Then it was embossed with clear embossing powder. 1. Cut your piece of 12 x 12 Bazzill cardstock to measure 9" x 12". Score the sheet along the 12" side at intervals of 2 3/4". At the end you will be left with a 1" section that will serve as your tab for gluing or taping together. 2. Now turn your cardstock to the 9" side and score at 2 3/4". The will form the bottom of your box when it's folded. Cut out the small section that is left on the bottom, below the score line. Then cut up each score line to the score line you have just made. 3. Now you fold the c/s and make sure your corners are nicely folded using a bone folder. Run tape or glue along the tab on the side, and attach the it to the inside of the flap it meets. Then fold the bottom of your box, and use glue or tape on each layer as you fold it down, and press securely so the box won't come apart. 4. For the lid, you follow the same instructions as above, but you make your fold lines at 2 7/8" intervals instead of 2 3/4" (along the 12" side). You do the top at 2 3/4" still though. For the top on this box I cut my patterned paper 4 3/4" x 12". 5. Glue or tape ribbon to the bottom of the lid. Using a punch or silent setter, make a small hole to fit wire thru the top center of the lid. Wrap wire around the ribbon in the center and run through a small bead . Then push the wire thru the hole, and put another bead inside to hold the ribbon, then twist the wire and lay flat inside the lid. 6. Cut a strip of designer paper, and a thinner strip of Bazzill, attaching each layer with glue or tape as you go. Stamp sentiment from Quietfire Design with Versamark, and emboss with Platinum embossing powder on a leftover piece of Bazzill. 7. Use an oval cutter to cut it in an oval shape. Using oval cutter, make another oval with the designer paper a touch bigger than the sentiment oval. Now attach the strip of paper to your box. Attach your 2 ovals together. Punch 2 holes on each side of the ovals and run ribbon thru it and around the box over the strip of papers. Make a knot at the side. |
