Instructions

The basic directions for a Double Dutch Fold card can be found HERE on the Splitcoast Stampers website.  Their directions make a 4 ¼ x 6 inch card.  I prefer a little bit larger cards, so I modified the directions to make a bigger card; my size is   5 1/2 x 7 inches.

Making the Double Dutch Card

1. Cut a 5 ½ x 11 inch piece (#1) of cardstock for the base and score at 4 inches.  Fold on the score line.

2. Emboss the large flap using an embossing folder.

3. Cut a 3 x 11 inch piece (#2) of cardstock for the dutch fold bottom and score at 2 ¾ and 8 ¼".  Fold on the score lines to create 2 flaps like a gate fold card.

Take the 3 x 11 inch piece and attach the center panel to the back of the 5 ½ x 11 inch piece. See illustration. (If you look at the splitcoast link, you will see a picture of where to attach) You should have double folds on the left and right side and another fold at the top.  The top flap should line up with the double fold flaps at approximately 4 inches from the top.

Details and Embellishing!

For the main embellishment, cut the #3 die from Spellbinders Grand Labels 4 (the 3rd smallest die) from cream colored cardstock.  From pink cardstock I cut the largest die in the Spellbinders Floral Ovals.

The sentiment “Garden Delights” from the Garden Delights stamp set  was stamped onto cream cardstock and then die cut using the Spellbinders Floral Ovals larger die.

Then cut around the pierced line in the center of the inside of the cut out to create an oval. Then using my Spellbinder Ovals, I cut out a larger pink oval and a smaller oval from cream cardstock.

“The Hum of Bees”, was stamped onto cream cardstock and die cut with an oval.  All the pieces were layered using pop dots to give it a little bit of dimension. This layered panel was attached to the top panel which was embossed.

For the bottom 2 flaps, I attached a piece of cream card stock and added some sparkly lace that I had in my stash and also made a bow using a pearl brad in the center from the same lace.  Then I added a few pearls to the corners.   For the inside, I just layered a piece of cream card stock to be able to write whatever you want.
